A friends brother had a 5 door that he did a huge amount of mileage in. Lasted until one bad winter he caught black ice and hit a tree. It still got him a few hundred miles after the crash but he realised how badly bent it was and scrapped it. He liked the thing so much he bought another focus to replace it, a 2007 that already has 140k miles on it because of the amount he drives.

I loved mine, bought it for something like $1300 when I was 17 it had 150k miles and it ran for another 2 years with no problems until I sold it to my cousin who then promptly destroyed the poor thing.

They seem like really solid cars, if it wasn't for insurance I might've ended up with one. The main killer of them here seems to be rust or ricers.

When I had mine I was living in the Northeastern U.S. and there was very little rust which was awesome. Honestly the car was a blast to drive with the manual, I had plenty of good times sliding about in gravel lots and blasting up and down the "mountain" roads.

It's kind of amazed me how the well the design of these cars have aged. The interior not so much, but this will probably go down in history as one the best hatchback designs ever.
